Cookies Policy
This Cookies Policy explains how Angola Petroleum (“we,” “us,” “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit or interact with the Angola Petroleum website and services (the “Platform”). This policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy, which provides additional information about how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website operators to make websites work more efficiently, to provide a better user experience, and to collect information about how visitors interact with the website. Cookies can be “persistent” (remaining on your device until they expire or are manually deleted) or “session” cookies (which are deleted when you close your browser).
In addition to cookies, we may use similar tracking technologies, including web beacons (also known as pixel tags or clear GIFs), local storage, and other technologies that serve similar purposes. References to “cookies” in this policy include these similar technologies unless otherwise specified.
Types of Cookies We Use
Angola Petroleum uses the following categories of cookies on the Platform.
Strictly Necessary Cookies. These cookies are essential for the operation of the Platform and enable core functionality such as page navigation, access to secure areas, and account authentication. Without these cookies, the Platform cannot function properly. Strictly necessary cookies do not collect personal information for marketing purposes and cannot be disabled through our cookie preferences tool.
Examples of strictly necessary cookies include session cookies that maintain your logged-in state, cookies that remember items in a shopping cart or subscription flow, and cookies that detect and prevent security threats.
Performance and Analytics Cookies. These cookies collect information about how visitors use the Platform, including which pages are visited most frequently, how long visitors spend on each page, which links are clicked, and whether users experience errors. The information collected by these cookies is aggregated and used to improve the performance and design of the Platform. Performance and analytics cookies do not directly identify individual visitors.
We use Google Analytics and similar analytics services to collect and process analytics data. Google Analytics uses cookies to track user interactions and generates statistical reports on website activity. Information collected by Google Analytics is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics is governed by the Google Analytics Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Functionality Cookies. These cookies allow the Platform to remember choices you have made (such as your language preference, text size, or other display settings) and provide enhanced, personalized features. Functionality cookies may also be used to remember your subscription preferences, newsletter opt-in status, and other settings that improve your experience on the Platform.
Advertising and Targeting Cookies. These cookies are used to deliver advertising that is relevant to your interests and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. Advertising cookies may be set by Angola Petroleum or by third-party advertising networks (including Google AdSense) that operate on our Platform. These cookies collect information about your browsing activity across websites and over time, which is used to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements.
Third-party advertising networks may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to the Platform and other websites. This information may be used to provide advertisements about goods and services that may be of interest to you. We do not control the cookies set by third-party advertising networks, and their use is governed by their own privacy policies and terms.
Social Media Cookies. If we embed social media features on the Platform (such as share buttons or embedded content from social media platforms), those features may set cookies that track your interactions with the social media content. These cookies are set by the social media platforms (such as Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook) and are governed by their respective privacy policies.

How to Manage Cookies
You have several options for managing cookies on the Platform.
Browser Settings. Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can configure your browser to block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or alert you when a cookie is being set. The specific steps for managing cookies vary by browser.
For Google Chrome, navigate to Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Other Site Data. For Mozilla Firefox, navigate to Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data. For Apple Safari, navigate to Preferences, then Privacy. For Microsoft Edge, navigate to Settings, then Cookies and Site Permissions.
Please note that blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of the Platform, including the ability to log in, access premium content, and maintain your preferences.
Google Analytics Opt-Out. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which is available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. This add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript from sharing information with Google Analytics about your visit activity.
Advertising Opt-Out. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting the following industry opt-out tools.
The Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) opt-out tool at optout.aboutads.info allows you to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies. The Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) opt-out tool at optout.networkadvertising.org provides a similar opt-out mechanism. For Google-specific advertising preferences, visit adssettings.google.com to manage your ad personalization settings.
Please note that opting out of personalized advertising does not eliminate advertising from the Platform — it means that the advertisements you see may be less relevant to your interests.
Do Not Track. Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites requesting that your browsing activity not be tracked. There is currently no industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, and the Platform does not currently respond to DNT signals. However, you can use the cookie management tools described above to control tracking on the Platform.
Cookie Retention Periods
Different cookies are retained for different periods, depending on their purpose and function.
Session Cookies. These cookies are temporary and are deleted from your device when you close your browser. Session cookies are used to maintain your browsing session, support navigation between pages, and enable features that require continuity across page loads (such as maintaining your logged-in state).
Persistent Cookies. These cookies remain on your device for a specified period after your browser is closed. The retention period varies by cookie, ranging from 24 hours (for short-term analytics cookies) to 24 months (for longer-term preference and advertising cookies). Persistent cookies are used to remember your preferences, track usage patterns over time, and support advertising targeting.
The specific retention periods for cookies used on the Platform are listed in the cookie table above. You can delete persistent cookies at any time through your browser settings.
Third-Party Cookie Providers
The following third-party services may set cookies on your device when you use the Platform.
Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information about how visitors use the Platform. This information is used to compile statistical reports on website activity. Google’s use of cookies is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Google Analytics cookies typically have a retention period of up to 26 months, though this can be configured by the website operator.
Google AdSense. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve advertisements based on your browsing activity and interests. AdSense cookies may track your visits to the Platform and other websites to build an interest profile for advertising targeting. Google’s advertising cookies typically have a retention period of up to 13 months.
Social Media Platforms. If we embed social media content or sharing buttons on the Platform, the social media platforms (such as Twitter/X, LinkedIn, or Facebook) may set their own cookies on your device. These cookies are governed by the respective social media platforms’ privacy policies and cookie policies, which we encourage you to review.
We do not control the cookies set by third-party providers and cannot be held responsible for their use. However, we select our third-party partners carefully and work to ensure that their cookie practices are consistent with applicable data protection laws.
Impact of Disabling Cookies
If you choose to disable or restrict cookies through your browser settings or the Platform’s cookie consent tool, some features of the Platform may not function as intended. Specifically, disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent you from logging in, accessing premium content, or navigating the Platform normally. Disabling performance cookies will prevent us from collecting analytics data, which helps us improve the Platform. Disabling functionality cookies may cause the Platform to forget your preferences and display settings. Disabling advertising cookies will not remove advertisements from the Platform but will result in less relevant advertisements being displayed.
We recommend that you keep strictly necessary cookies enabled for the best user experience. Performance, functionality, and advertising cookies can be disabled according to your preferences without preventing basic Platform functionality.
Consent
When you first visit the Platform, we display a cookie consent banner that provides information about our use of cookies and allows you to accept or configure your cookie preferences. Your consent choices are recorded and applied to your browsing session. You can change your cookie preferences at any time by accessing the cookie settings available in the footer of the Platform.
Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent, as they are essential for the operation of the Platform. Consent is requested for performance, functionality, advertising, and social media cookies.
Updates to This Cookies Policy
We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our cookie practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. We will post the updated Cookies Policy on this page and update the “Last Updated” date. Material changes may be communicated through the Platform’s cookie consent mechanism.
